Frequently Asked Questions

Student in Online LessonI don’t have my own drum set.
Our teachers can prepare exercises that will teach proper technique using practice pads, pillows, etc. This is an opportunity to get creative and have some fun! We’re musicians, after all. We should know how to improvise!

What if the internet cuts out?
In Zoom, the online platform you’ll be using, you can pause the video part of the conference and let the audio continue until the signal improves.

I’m afraid my child will have a hard time sitting still if the teacher is not in the room with them.
We are recommending a parent sit in at least for part of the lesson with any students who are very young or may have attention issues.

When will you start lessons back in person?
We will continue to monitor the situation and send updates when we have new information. For now, this is indefinite until we learn more about the spread of the virus.

What about a recital?
We are hopeful that by May we will be able to host our recitals as usual, but that will depend entirely on what happens between now and then. One thing is for sure though: recitals are absolutely essential for our students – they create a goal that launches us through each semester with a rewarding experience at the end. They are the punctuation that defines our sentence structure as learners. Simply put, we will not skip a recital – we will find another way if we have to. We have already begun planning for the possibility of a virtual recital in case we do have to cancel the in-person event.
